World of Tanks Expansion - British (Charioteer)
The FV 4101 Charioteer was a British tank based on the Cromwell tank. In the 1950s, the Royal Armored Corps needed more firepower tanks, which led to some Cromwells being fitted with a more powerful 84mm 20-pounder gun (the same as the Centurion tanks) in a new turret. In Finland, the cannon was known as 84 PSVK 53. These modified chariots were designated as FV 4101 Charioteer Tank Destroyer. About 200 wagons were produced.
In the late 1950s, most of the wagons were sold to Austria, Finland and Jordan. Charioteer wagons were the first equipment purchases of the Finnish Defense Forces after the war. In 1958 three wagons arrived and in 1960 35 wagons. The wagons were in educational use until 1980, when the last ones were removed. At the same time, the continuous use of British tanks in Finland, which began in 1933, ended.
