Vallejo Carbon Black Pigment is part of a finely processed range of natural earth and oxide powders designed to recreate realistic weathering and terrain effects across all types of dioramas and miniature projects. These pigments are the same materials used in Vallejo’s own paint manufacturing and have been expertly micronized to ensure smooth, even dispersion in water, acrylic mediums, or turpentine.
For secure application, Carbon Black can be fixed to any surface using Matte Medium, or blended more gradually with Glaze Medium when you need extra working time for shading, soot effects, or subtle buildup around recesses and panel lines. The deep, rich black tone makes it ideal for simulating smoke damage, engine grime, charred surfaces, or dark soil deposits.
Pairing the pigment with Vallejo’s Water & Stone textures expands its versatility even further. Transparent Water allows you to produce convincing oil and grease stains, while Sandy Paste creates dense, gritty textures suitable for heavy dirt, dried mud, or corroded metal. Each pigment is non-toxic and comes sealed in a 30 ml pot with a childproof cap, with weight varying between 17–39 grams depending on pigment density.
