TYRANIDS: BIOVORE
The Biovore is a specialized artillery organism within the Tyranid Hive Fleets in Warhammer 40,000. Here's an overview:
Role and Function: Biovores serve as long-range artillery units within Tyranid swarms, providing indirect fire support and suppressing enemy positions with spore mines. They are often deployed to soften up enemy defenses from a distance before the main Tyranid assault.
Physical Description: Biovores are large, slug-like creatures with a bloated and bulbous body. They possess multiple limbs ending in grasping claws, as well as a long and thick tail that they use for locomotion. They have a large bio-cannon mounted on their back, capable of launching spore mines over long distances.
Spore Mines: Biovores fire spore mines from their bio-cannon, launching them into the air in high arcs to rain down upon enemy positions. These spore mines are living organisms filled with volatile chemicals and toxins, which detonate upon impact to unleash devastating explosions that can shred enemy infantry and vehicles alike.
Area Denial: Spore mines launched by Biovores create areas of denial on the battlefield, making it difficult for enemy forces to advance or hold strategic positions. The threat of spore mine detonations forces enemy units to maneuver carefully and avoid concentrated areas of enemy fire.
Tactical Deployment: Biovores are often deployed behind the main Tyranid assault force, providing fire support from a distance while the rest of the Tyranid swarm engages the enemy in close combat. They remain relatively stationary during combat, using their long-range bio-cannon to bombard enemy positions from a safe distance.
Integration with Tyranid Forces: Biovores coordinate their attacks with other Tyranid organisms, providing long-range fire support to complement the close combat abilities of other Tyranid units. They work in tandem with synapse creatures, such as Hive Tyrants and Warriors, to ensure that the swarm operates as a cohesive whole.
Resilience and Durability: Biovores are heavily armored and possess regenerative capabilities, making them resilient and difficult to eliminate on the battlefield. They can withstand enemy fire and continue to provide fire support for the Tyranid swarm, even in the face of sustained enemy resistance.
Infamy and Terror: The presence of Biovores on the battlefield is often a terrifying sight for enemy forces, as their long-range bio-cannon poses a significant threat to enemy positions. The fear of spore mine detonations and the devastation they can cause strike fear into the hearts of all who oppose the Great Devourer.
The Biovore in this kit can alternatively be built as a Pyrovore, a fire-spewing Tyranid creature.
This kit comprises 37 plastic components, and comes with a Citadel 80mm Round Base and 3x Citadel 25mm Round Bases. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.
