From July of 1980 through March of last year, Bandai has sold over 434 million Gunpla kits. As part of the celebrations, a new HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam, created using the latest in Gunpla engineering, will be released for the lineup's 35th anniversary in July.

The kit, the first revision in 14 years of the iconic 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam, embodies the anniversary theme "Revive" with all-new molds. Ideal proportions, an evolution in mobility, and an easier build than ever combine to show new frontiers for Gunpla.

Kit Features & Gimmicks

Articulation

• The head can rotate/tilt on double-sided ball-joint neck.
• The upper torso can tilt frontward.
• Shoulder joints can raise upwards.

  • Swivel via a ball-and-socket connection.
  • Raise horizontally.
• The upper elbows can turn.
• The elbows and knees are double-jointed.
• The waist can rotate 360 degrees, though it can be hindered by a few skirt armor panels.
• Front and side skirt armors can pivot to avoid interference with the leg articulation.
• The hip joint axis can swing up or down on one side.

  • Swing frontwards (and backwards in a limited manner due to the non-poseable rear skirt armor) on a peg joint.

Weapons & Other Gimmicks

• The hands are swappable.
• The weapons must be wielded by their respective hand parts.
• Beam Saber hilts can be optionally removed from the backpack as handheld weapons.
• Beam Rifle's foregrip & sensor can swing left or right.
• Hyper Bazooka's grip can be adjusted by slightly pivoting up and down.
• Hyper Bazooka can mount onto the rear waist armor with a storage adapter.

  • Attach onto any forearms, though the default position is on the left.
    • The Shield's grip can be optionally flipped out for the left hand to wield.

Tips & Tricks

• For better results, some or most of the details are needed to be applied/panel-lined with Gundam Markers and/or Mr. Color paints.
• Topcoat (Mr. Hobby recommended) can be used to protect applied stickers and if any, marking decals and painted details.
