Flames of War Polish TKS Tankette Platoon

Add fast, compact armored vehicles to your Polish forces with the Flames of War Polish TKS Tankette Platoon. The distinctive TKS tankette was one of the most numerous armored vehicles available to Poland during the 1939 campaign, serving in reconnaissance and infantry-support roles across the battlefield.

Small and lightly armored compared with conventional tanks, TKS tankettes relied on their compact size and mobility to support Polish formations. They make an excellent addition to a historically themed Flames of War force and pair naturally with Polish Rifle Companies, 7TP tanks, anti-tank guns, and other support units.

The TKS Tankette

The TKS was a Polish development of earlier tankette designs and became one of the country's most recognizable armored vehicles during the opening campaign of the Second World War.

Its compact dimensions gave the vehicle a very different battlefield profile from larger tanks.

TKS tankettes could be used for duties such as:

• Reconnaissance

• Infantry support

• Screening

• Battlefield observation

• Supporting mobile formations

• Patrolling

• Scouting enemy positions

Polish Armor in 1939

Poland entered the Second World War with a varied collection of armored fighting vehicles ranging from tankettes to more capable tanks such as the 7TP.

The TKS formed an important part of these forces due to the number of vehicles available.

A TKS Platoon provides an excellent way to add more variety to a Polish armored collection while representing a vehicle closely associated with the September 1939 campaign.

Support Your Infantry

TKS tankettes can be incorporated into larger Polish forces alongside infantry and supporting weapons.

Pair the platoon with:

• Polish Rifle Company HQ

• Rifle Platoons

• Machine-Gun Platoons

• 37mm Anti-Tank Platoons

• 76mm Infantry Guns

• 7TP tanks

• Artillery

• Other Polish support units

This creates a visually varied combined-arms army for your tabletop battles.

Great for Historical Scenarios

The TKS Tankette Platoon fits naturally into scenarios inspired by the fighting in Poland during 1939.

Use your tankettes in battles featuring:

• Rural roads

• Villages

• Forests

• Farmland

• Defensive positions

• Reconnaissance missions

• Delaying actions

• Mobile engagements

Their small size also creates an interesting visual contrast alongside larger armored vehicles.

Excellent Painting Project

A platoon of TKS tankettes provides a manageable vehicle painting project.

Experiment with:

• Polish camouflage

• Vehicle markings

• Tracks

• Metallic wear

• Dust

• Mud

• Oil streaks

• Exhaust staining

• Chipping

• Campaign weathering

Varying the weathering between individual vehicles can help give the platoon a natural campaign appearance.
