The M3 Lee was supplied to the Soviet Union under the U.S. Lend-Lease program during the early years of World War II. While its tall silhouette and dual-gun layout were unusual by Soviet standards, it gave Red Army tank units a much-needed boost in firepower and armored strength on the Eastern Front. Known to the Soviets as the “M3 Medium,” it served in various tank brigades and proved especially useful in the harsh conditions of 1942–43.
