Flames of War American Easy Company – 25th Anniversary

Easy Company, part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, fought through some of the most significant campaigns in the European theatre. From the airborne landings associated with D-Day through the fighting in the Netherlands and the Battle of the Bulge, the unit became one of the best-known formations of the US airborne forces.

Easy Company
Easy Company served as part of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.
Like other American paratroopers, its soldiers were trained to deploy behind enemy lines and continue fighting even when isolated from conventional ground forces.
Their campaigns would take them across Western Europe and establish the company as one of the most recognizable American units of the war.
US Airborne Forces
American paratroopers were expected to operate aggressively and independently.
Dropped into hostile territory, airborne troops could find themselves scattered and forced to regroup while already surrounded by enemy forces.
On the tabletop, an Easy Company-themed force provides an excellent foundation for recreating battles involving determined American infantry operating under difficult conditions.
D-Day & Normandy
Easy Company participated in the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
American airborne forces were dropped behind the beaches to secure important positions, disrupt German responses, and support the forces landing along the coast.
Use the miniatures to create scenarios involving:
-
Airborne landings
-
Normandy villages
-
Hedgerow fighting
-
Assaults on German positions
-
Road and bridge objectives
-
Defensive actions
Operation Market Garden
The 101st Airborne Division later participated in Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands.
Airborne troops were tasked with securing important routes and objectives as Allied ground forces attempted to advance through the region.
An Easy Company collection can therefore be used across multiple Late War campaigns rather than being restricted to Normandy.
Battle of the Bulge
Easy Company also fought during the Battle of the Bulge, including the defense around Bastogne.
Winter battles provide a very different setting for an American airborne force and create opportunities for snow-covered terrain, defensive scenarios, and winter-themed armies.
