D&D Nolzur's Marvelous Unpainted Miniatures: Town Guards

Bring law, order, and martial strength to your tabletop with the D&D Nolzur's Marvelous Unpainted Miniatures: Town Guards. This officially licensed Dungeons & Dragons miniature set contains two Town Guard figures, providing Dungeon Masters and players with versatile warriors for cities, settlements, strongholds, and faction-themed encounters.

Representing stalwart defenders associated with the Order of the Gauntlet, these guards are dedicated to opposing evil and enforcing the strict principles of their order. They also pair naturally with forces such as the veteran mercenaries of the Flaming Fist, making them useful for a wide variety of Sword Coast adventures.

Both miniatures come pre-primed and ready for painting, with deeply sculpted details designed to make individual features easier to pick out with a brush.

Town Guards

Guards are an essential part of any populated fantasy setting.

Whether stationed at city gates, patrolling busy streets, guarding important officials, or responding to trouble at the local tavern, these miniatures provide Dungeon Masters with ready-made figures for countless encounters.

Use them as:

  • Town Guards

  • City Watch

  • Gate Guards

  • Caravan Guards

  • Soldiers

  • Militia

  • Bodyguards

  • Order of the Gauntlet warriors

  • Flaming Fist allies

  • Mercenaries

Their versatile appearance allows them to fit into many different settlements and campaigns.

Order of the Gauntlet

The Order of the Gauntlet is dedicated to confronting evil and protecting civilization from dangerous threats.

Its warriors are known for their discipline and determination, making these figures useful for encounters involving the order throughout the Sword Coast.

They can appear as:

  • Allies

  • Quest givers

  • Patrols

  • Reinforcements

  • Investigators

  • Guards

  • Rival adventurers

Their strict dedication to justice can make them valuable allies—or create complications for adventurers whose methods don't align with the order's principles.

Pair with the Flaming Fist

These Town Guards also work well alongside miniatures representing the Flaming Fist, the well-known mercenary organization associated with Baldur's Gate.

Combine the two groups to create larger forces for:

  • City encounters

  • Guard posts

  • Street battles

  • Gate defenses

  • Criminal investigations

  • Riots

  • Sieges

  • Faction conflicts

Versatile NPC Miniatures

Town Guards are among the most reusable miniatures a Dungeon Master can own.

Unlike highly specialized monsters, guards can appear repeatedly across an entire campaign.

Use the same figures in villages, cities, castles, military camps, and roadside checkpoints whenever armed authorities are needed.

Pre-Primed for Painting

Both miniatures arrive pre-primed, reducing the preparation required before painting.

Deep sculpted details make them suitable for techniques such as:

  • Base coating

  • Washing

  • Drybrushing

  • Layering

  • Edge highlighting

  • Glazing

  • Contrast-style painting

Some translucent components may remain unprimed to preserve their transparent appearance.

Excellent Painting Project

The guards provide plenty of opportunities for traditional fantasy miniature painting.

Experiment with:

  • Steel armor

  • Chainmail

  • Leather

  • Cloth

  • Shields

  • Weapons

  • Heraldry

  • Uniform colors

  • Weathering

  • Metallic highlights

Paint both figures in matching colors to represent the same organization or give them different schemes for use as guards from separate settlements.

25mm Clear Plastic Bases

The set includes 2 25mm clear plastic bases.

The transparent bases allow the finished miniatures to blend naturally with city maps, dungeon tiles, gaming mats, and terrain without permanently tying them to one environment.
