The Story

Armageddon is dying, and Hive Tartarus stands on the brink of destruction.

In the final days of the Second War for Armageddon, the Imperium faces a relentless Ork assault that threatens to overwhelm its remaining defenders.

Within the doomed hive city, three warriors fight their own desperate battles.

Major Roth has been ordered to hold the city's walls against a massive xenos attack, despite knowing that the defensive position may be impossible to maintain.

Sister Superior Sabreen, a member of the Order of Our Martyred Lady, finds herself entrusted with protecting the sacred relics of an Imperial saint as the city collapses around her.

Meanwhile, Brother Gavriel, a young and headstrong Blood Angel, fights through the ruins of Tartarus, confronting the horrors of war while pursuing death and glory.

As the Orks close in, each defender must decide what their sacrifice will mean in the face of inevitable destruction.

The Second War for Armageddon

The Second War for Armageddon is one of the most significant conflicts in Warhammer 40,000 history.

The industrial world of Armageddon became the target of a massive Ork invasion, forcing Imperial defenders into a desperate struggle for survival.

Armageddon's hive cities, manufactorums, and industrial infrastructure became battlegrounds as the Imperium attempted to resist the invading greenskins.

Armageddon: Season of Fire explores this conflict through the experiences of individual warriors fighting on the front lines.

Hive Tartarus

The city of Tartarus serves as the central setting for the novel.

Once an important Imperial hive, it has become a devastated battlefield threatened by overwhelming Ork forces.

Its walls, streets, and ruined structures provide the backdrop for desperate defensive operations and personal struggles.

As the city approaches destruction, its remaining defenders must determine how best to use the time they have left.

Major Roth – Hold the Walls

Major Roth faces a military assignment that appears impossible.

Tasked with defending the walls of Tartarus against a massive Ork assault, he must organize the remaining Imperial forces and resist an enemy that threatens to overwhelm every defensive position.

His story explores the responsibilities of command when the chances of survival are rapidly disappearing.

Sister Superior Sabreen – Guardian of the Relics

Sister Superior Sabreen serves within the Order of Our Martyred Lady, one of the most recognizable Orders Militant of the Adepta Sororitas.

As the last protector of a saint's sacred relics, Sabreen must preserve objects of immense religious importance while the city falls into chaos.

Her struggle emphasizes the role of faith and duty within the Imperium, particularly when the preservation of sacred objects may demand extraordinary sacrifice.

Brother Gavriel – Blood Angels

Brother Gavriel is a young Blood Angel whose determination and desire for glory bring him into the brutal fighting around Tartarus.

As a Space Marine of the Blood Angels Chapter, he possesses extraordinary strength, training, and combat ability.

Yet even the might of the Adeptus Astartes offers no guarantee of survival against the overwhelming Ork invasion.

His story explores the relationship between martial honor, sacrifice, and the realities of warfare.

The Ork Invasion

The invading Orks represent a relentless threat to the defenders of Armageddon.

Driven by their love of battle and conquest, Ork warbands can overwhelm fortified positions through sheer numbers, aggression, and destructive firepower.

In Armageddon: Season of Fire, the advancing green tide threatens to consume Hive Tartarus and everyone remaining within its walls.

Three Perspectives on War

One of the defining features of the novel is its focus on three different Imperial protagonists.

Each represents a distinct aspect of the Imperium's military and religious structure:

  • Major Roth: Military command and defensive warfare

  • Sister Superior Sabreen: Faith, duty, and sacred responsibility

  • Brother Gavriel: Space Marine combat and the pursuit of glory

Their experiences provide different perspectives on the same catastrophic conflict.

The Meaning of Sacrifice

At the heart of Armageddon: Season of Fire is the question of what sacrifice means when victory may no longer be possible.

The defenders of Tartarus face overwhelming odds, forcing them to consider what can still be saved.

The novel explores:

  • Duty in the face of defeat

  • The cost of military leadership

  • Faith under extreme pressure

  • Courage against overwhelming enemies

  • The pursuit of honor

  • The preservation of sacred traditions

  • The meaning of a final stand

Experience the War for Armageddon

The Armageddon campaigns are among the most recognizable conflicts in Warhammer 40,000.

The setting brings together Imperial Guard regiments, Space Marines, Adepta Sororitas, and vast Ork armies in battles across industrial wastelands and heavily fortified hive cities.

Season of Fire provides a character-focused perspective on this devastating war.

Written by Jude Reid

Jude Reid brings the desperate defense of Hive Tartarus to life through three interconnected perspectives.

The story combines military science fiction, religious devotion, and the personal consequences of warfare in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium.
