Airfix Sherman Calliope Tank (1/76) ā AIR02334V
The Sherman Calliope was a unique rocket-armed variant of the famous M4 Sherman tank used by the United States during the Second World War. Equipped with a mounted rocket launcher system, the vehicle could deliver devastating barrages against enemy positions while still retaining the mobility of the standard Sherman tank.
About the Tank
The Rocket Launcher T34 (Calliope) was a tank-mounted multiple rocket launcher used by the United States Army during WWII. Mounted above the turret, the system fired 4.5-inch (114mm) rockets from 60 launch tubes, unleashing a powerful barrage capable of suppressing enemy defenses.
The nickname āCalliopeā came from the musical instrument of the same name, a steam-powered organ known for its distinctive row of pipesāsimilar in appearance to the launcher tubes mounted above the tank.
