12 Week Build. Paint. Play. Challenge – Bolt Action 3rd Edition (Spring 2026)
The 12 Week Build. Paint. Play. Challenge is a structured, beginner-friendly hobby league designed to help new players confidently start Bolt Action 3rd Edition. Over 12 weeks, participants will build a force, paint it to tabletop standard, play games, and become part of the local Bolt Action community.
How to Join
To enter the challenge, players must complete one of the following during the entry window:
Purchase a Bolt Action 3rd Edition Core Rulebook
Purchase any Bolt Action Starter Set
Spend $50 or more on Bolt Action products
Once qualified, players register in-store or online and are added to the League Tracker.
Duration
The challenge runs for 12 weeks, divided into three progression blocks. Each block focuses on achievable hobby and gameplay milestones. Players may join late, but points are only awarded for completed blocks.
Structure
Block 1 – Build the Foundation
Build a legal infantry platoon
Paint the platoon to tabletop standard (painted and based)
Optional: play a learning game at any location
Block 2 – Strengthen the Force
Add at least one support unit
Paint the new unit
Play at least one game
Block 3 – Battle Ready
Reach a 750–1000 point force
Force is fully built and tabletop ready
Play at least one game
Scoring
Each completed block earns up to 10 points.
Points are awarded for completion only. There are no bonus objectives, no hidden scoring, and no advantage to grinding extra work.
Prizing
Prizes are based on participation, not just top score.
At the end of each block, all players who completed that block are entered into prize draws.
Warlord Games promotional army bundles will be awarded to eligible participants.
Additional prizes may include store credit or free entry into a future Bolt Action event.
A final League Commander may be recognized for highest total points at the end of the challenge, but this is strictly for bragging rights.
Proof of Completion
Players may show completed models in store or submit a single photo per block.
Staff verification is light and informal. No painting quality judging.

Build long-term players, not one-time winners
