The Yu-Gi-Oh "Official Card Game" (OCG) made its debut in the serialized comics of the same name, the Japanese manga release in 1996. Using the in-story's card game as the foundation, the actual card game was made and officially released in 1999 (2002 in North America) . The Yu-Gi-Oh franchise has since grown to an immensely successful global brand, spawning various manga and anime series, a real-life version of the card game featured in the story, video games, toys, and many other products.

Each match in Yu-Gi-Oh consists of 3 duels in a best-of-3 format. During a duel, each player starts with 8000 Life Points and a winner is declared in one of the following ways: Reduce your opponent's Life Points to 0. If and when it is time to draw a card, your opponent is unable to do so.

The Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game's current banlist contains over 100 banned cards alone - some cards fall into the forbidden category, while others are limited or semi-limited to retain balance.

Even though the original anime ended years ago, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is still going strong. Booster packs and decks are released yearly – and many cards are valued into the thousands of dollars.

Yugioh cards are produced by Konami and are Japanese sized. Be sure to keep this in mind when purchasing your sleeves and other trading card supplies.
