The HMS Eagle was one of the Royal Navy’s early aircraft carriers, originally laid down as a battleship before being converted into a carrier during construction. Commissioned in 1924, Eagle served extensively throughout the interwar period and World War II, becoming a key asset in the Mediterranean theatre.
