About the Warship:
Commissioned in 1939, HMS Belfast was one of the largest and most advanced Royal Navy cruisers of her time. She was heavily involved in Arctic convoy protection, fighting against German surface raiders and U-boats. Her most famous engagement came in the Battle of North Cape (1943), where she helped sink the German battleship Scharnhorst. Later, she provided naval gunfire support during the D-Day landings, bombarding German positions in Normandy. Post-war, she served in the Korean War before becoming a museum ship on the River Thames, where she remains today.
