Vallejo Pigments Fresh Rust Pigment – VAL73118
Vallejo Fresh Rust Pigment is formulated to recreate the vivid, bright tones of newly formed rust on metal surfaces. This finely processed earth and iron oxide pigment is perfect for adding the sharp orange-brown hues seen on exposed steel, worn tracks, battle damage, tools, armor plates, and abandoned structures. It is especially effective when depicting recent corrosion, chipped paint, or environmental exposure.
Micronized for seamless dispersion, the pigment blends smoothly with water, acrylic mediums, or turpentine. Fresh Rust can be applied dry for a powdery, textured look or fixed with Matte Medium for a permanent effect. Using Glaze Medium extends working time, allowing natural transitions, streaking, and run-offs that mimic the way rust forms and spreads across metal surfaces.
For more advanced weathering, Vallejo’s Water & Stone range adds further versatility. Transparent Water helps create wet rust or greasy discoloration, while Sandy Paste provides the texture needed for thick, flaky rust deposits and heavily corroded surfaces. All pigments in the range are non-toxic and packaged in 30 ml pots with childproof lids, with weights varying from 17–39 grams depending on pigment density.
