Step into Westeros and command the great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms in the A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game. Based on the hit novels by George R. R. Martin, this rank-and-flank wargame brings the brutal politics and epic battles of Game of Thrones to life with beautifully detailed miniatures and fast-paced, strategic gameplay.
1. What is the A Song of Ice and Fire Miniatures Game?
This is a competitive miniatures wargame by CMON that pits the iconic factions of Westeros against one another in large-scale battles. Players field armies made up of rank-and-file units, legendary commanders, and battlefield tactics that reflect the cunning and brutality of the source material.
2. What factions can I play?
The game features all major Houses from the series, including Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Targaryen, Night’s Watch, Free Folk, Greyjoy, Martell, and more. Each House has a unique playstyle, unit composition, and set of tactics cards that reflect their lore and battlefield strengths.
3. How does the game play?
Players alternate activating units, moving across the battlefield, charging, fighting, and using tactics cards to influence key moments. The game includes a tactics board for political influence and unique abilities, adding a layer of intrigue and resource management to traditional combat mechanics.
4. Is the game beginner-friendly?
Yes. The rules are streamlined but offer deep tactical decisions. Starter sets provide everything needed to learn and play, and the alternating activation system keeps both players engaged throughout. It’s an excellent entry point for fans of both miniature wargaming and the world of Westeros.
5. What products are available?
The range includes faction starter boxes, unit expansions, character boxes, attachments, and terrain. CMON regularly releases new content to expand each House’s roster, with beautifully sculpted plastic miniatures and pre-assembled components for faster play.
6. Can I recreate battles from the books or show?
Yes! Players can build themed armies and recreate classic clashes like the Battle of the Bastards, the fight for King’s Landing, or entirely custom what-if matchups. Many units and characters are drawn directly from the books and HBO series.
7. How competitive is the game?
A Song of Ice and Fire has a growing competitive scene with organized play kits, tournaments, and global rankings. It is well-balanced, with regular updates and faction tweaks to support both casual narrative games and high-level competition.
