MAGGOTKIN OF NURGLE PLAGUEBEARERS
Plaguebearers are a core unit within the Daemons of Nurgle faction in the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar tabletop wargames. These daemonic foot soldiers are the embodiment of Nurgle's endless cycle of decay and rebirth. Here's a brief description of Plaguebearers:
Putrid and Resilient: Plaguebearers are bloated, putrid, and pustule-covered daemons. Their bodies are marred by various ailments and afflictions, yet they are remarkably resilient to harm.
Bearer of Plagues: As the name suggests, Plaguebearers carry a host of diseases and plagues within their bodies. They are capable of transmitting these diseases to those they engage in combat with, further spreading Nurgle's blessings.
Rusty Blades and Banners: In battle, Plaguebearers wield rusted and decayed blades. They also carry banners adorned with Nurgle's foul symbols, which have their own unique and corrupting properties.
Nurturers of Decay: Plaguebearers believe that by spreading disease and decay, they are nurturing the cycle of life and death in accordance with Nurgle's will. They view decay as a form of rebirth.
Contagious Courage: Plaguebearers are not easily swayed by fear or despair. They are known for their unyielding resolve and their ability to inspire other Nurgle daemons to stand firm in the face of adversity.
Symbol of Nurgle: Plaguebearers personify the themes of decay, pestilence, and the cyclical nature of life and death that are central to Nurgle's domain. They are the foot soldiers of Nurgle's army, forming the core of Nurgle-themed armies.
In both lore and gameplay, Plaguebearers are a foundational and thematic unit within the Daemons of Nurgle faction. They are often used as the backbone of Nurgle armies, holding the line, spreading disease, and acting as the physical embodiment of Nurgle's blessings. Their grotesque appearance and association with decay and rebirth underscore the grim and pestilential aspects of Nurgle's realm.
