Kings of War – Epic Rank-and-File Fantasy Battles

Kings of War by Mantic Games is a fast-paced, mass-battle fantasy miniatures game known for its clean rules, large armies, and smooth gameplay. Set in the world of Pannithor, players command ranked regiments of dwarfs, elves, undead, orcs, and more. With scalable points systems and balanced army lists, Kings of War is ideal for both competitive and narrative play, offering a streamlined alternative to more complex wargames.

Kings of War is a rank-and-file mass battle fantasy wargame published by Mantic Games. It focuses on large units of troops moving as cohesive blocks across the battlefield, simulating epic warfare between classic fantasy armies like Dwarfs, Undead, Abyssals, and Elves. The game is known for its elegant ruleset and fast resolution.

Unlike skirmish-based systems, Kings of War uses multibase units that move and fight in formation. The game eliminates micromanagement by using simplified movement and combat resolution, resulting in faster, more strategic battles. Damage is tracked with Nerve tests rather than removing models individually, maintaining a clean battlefield and focused gameplay.

Kings of War features over 20 army lists including Kingdoms of Men, Elves, Dwarfs, Abyssal Dwarfs, Nightstalkers, Undead, Orcs, Forces of the Abyss, and more. Each army offers unique units, tactics, and lore, allowing for thematic or competitive builds. Many players also convert or repurpose fantasy miniatures from other systems into Kings of War armies.

Yes. The core rules are simple, well-organized, and intuitive. The official rulebook and Quick Start guide make it easy for new players to learn. Starter sets and pre-made army bundles are available to help newcomers get into the game quickly without a steep learning curve.

Mantic produces plastic, resin, and metal miniatures for every Kings of War faction. The system also supports the use of multibased models from other companies, making it highly accessible for hobbyists who already own fantasy miniatures.
