Built on a modified Panzer IV chassis, it combined ease of maintenance with the devastating firepower of the 8.8cm PaK43 gun—the same weapon later mounted on the formidable King Tiger. Though lightly armoured with just 30mm on the hull front and 10mm on the superstructure, the Hornisse relied on its range and firepower to destroy Soviet and Allied armour before they could close in. With a four-man crew and a defensive machine gun, it was a flexible and deadly addition to Germany’s Late-War arsenal.
