About the Vehicle:
An evolution of the Renault R35, the Renault R39 was designed to provide better anti-tank capabilities by replacing the SA18 gun with the more powerful SA38 cannon. Despite this improvement, the tank still suffered from a one-man turret, which made combat operations difficult. Used primarily in 1940, a number of R39s were later captured and repurposed by German forces.
