Ferren Areios
Ferren Areios first appeared in the Dawn of Fire series and has since risen through the ranks of the Ultramarines.
Now Captain of the Sixth Company, he also carries the title Master of Rites.
With that authority comes responsibility, and Ferren's latest mission places him in command of a campaign where the ideals of the Ultramarines will be tested against the brutal realities of prolonged warfare.
The Khorsari Reach
For more than a decade, the Khorsari Reach has been isolated from the Imperium.
Warp storms surrounding the Great Rift have cut its worlds off from Imperial aid, allowing the Death Guard to claim the region.
Its population has suffered under the servants of the Plague God, but the Reach is not simply another collection of lost Imperial worlds.
These worlds belong to Ultramar.
And the Ultramarines intend to take them back.
War Against the Death Guard
Ferren and his reclamation fleet are dispatched to drive the Death Guard from the Reach and cleanse the corruption left behind.
The campaign quickly becomes a grinding war of attrition.
The Plague Marines are entrenched, casualties continue to rise, and the battlefield itself exists within the influence of the Plague God.
For the Ultramarines, victory will require more than disciplined tactics and superior organization.
