1. What is Airfix?

2. When was Airfix founded?
Founded in 1939, Airfix was owned by Humbrol from 1986 until the latter's financial collapse on 31 August 2006. Since 2007, both Humbrol and Airfix have been owned by Hornby. During its golden age, Airfix manufactured a wide range of model products such as cars, aircraft, ships, commercial vehicles, military vehicles, railways, and figures. Under the management of Hornby, Airfix was revitalised. Old ranges were re-issued, and Airfix launched several new kits annually. Manufacture is in India, while design and packing is in the UK.

3. Do Airfix models come with paint and glue?
Most Airfix kits do not include any paint or glue. There is a valid reason for the absence of these important materials and that is that most modelers have very different ideas about how they wish to construct and finish their models. There are however a few specialty “Gift” sets which include snap fit kits with basic glues and paints. These are simpler than the standard Airfix kits and are designed to be gifts for beginners to the hobby.

4. What age are Airfix Starter Kits for?
It's made in separate parts at a scale of 1:72, and is suitable for beginners from the age of eight. Airfix kits are considered to be beginner friendly and are a great entry point into plastic model kits.
