CUSTODES: SENTINEL GUARD SODALITY

Hold the line with the Emperor's finest using the Sentinel Guard Sodality, heavily protected Custodian warriors equipped to withstand devastating enemy fire without sacrificing their formidable offensive capabilities.

This multipart plastic kit builds 6 Sentinel Guards for Legio Custodes armies in Warhammer: The Horus Heresy or Adeptus Custodes armies in Warhammer 40,000. Armed with Sentinel Blades, Misericordias, and Praesidium Shields, these elite warriors can defend vital positions, protect important emissaries, or advance directly through enemy fire to break opposing battle lines.

One miniature can alternatively be built as a Sentinel Vexillarius carrying a Magisterium Vexilla, while an extensive selection of interchangeable heads, plumes, and shields provides plenty of customization.

Sentinel Guard Sodalities

Sentinel Guard Sodalities are deployed when the Legio Custodes requires warriors capable of surviving the most punishing enemy attacks.

Their traditional duties include:

  • Protecting important emissaries

  • Holding defensive positions

  • Guarding critical locations

  • Withstanding heavy enemy assaults

Yet a Custodian is far more than a defensive soldier.

Their extraordinary physical abilities and exceptional wargear allow Sentinel Guards to rapidly transition from holding ground to launching aggressive attacks.

Peerless in Defence

The defining piece of equipment carried by the Sentinel Guard is the Praesidium Shield.

Reinforced by powerful energy fields, these shields are precursors to the storm shields later employed by Space Marines.

They provide the Custodes with exceptional protection as they advance through incoming fire or hold against powerful enemy attacks.

Use Sentinel Guards to:

  • Protect key positions

  • Hold objectives

  • Shield important characters

  • Advance through enemy fire

  • Assault defended positions

  • Break enemy lines

  • Anchor your Custodes formation

Sentinel Blades

Each warrior carries a Sentinel Blade, combining Custodian craftsmanship with formidable offensive power.

These weapons ensure the squad remains dangerous even while equipped for a heavily defensive battlefield role.

Once the Sentinel Guard reaches the enemy, their protective shields and combat skill make them exceptionally difficult opponents to dislodge.

Misericordias

The warriors also carry Misericordias, the distinctive blades associated with the Emperor's Custodes.

These weapons add another iconic element to the miniatures and reinforce their identity as members of the Ten Thousand.

Praesidium Shields

Each standard Sentinel Guard carries a Praesidium Shield.

The kit contains 6 interchangeable shields, allowing you to vary the appearance of the unit while maintaining its distinctive heavily protected silhouette.

Their broad surfaces also provide excellent opportunities for detailed painting, heraldry, and weathering.

Optional Sentinel Vexillarius

One miniature can alternatively be assembled as a Sentinel Vexillarius.

This warrior exchanges their Praesidium Shield for a Magisterium Vexilla, creating an impressive standard-bearing centerpiece within the Sodality.

The Vexillarius can be assembled holding either:

  • Sentinel Blade

  • Misericordia

in their left hand.

In Auramite Clad

Every Sentinel Guard is covered in the ornate details expected of the Emperor's personal guardians.

The miniatures feature:

  • Sculpted iconography

  • Filigree

  • Detailed armor

  • Decorative shields

  • Custodian heraldry

  • Ornamental helmet plumes

This makes the unit visually distinctive even among other elite warriors of the Imperium.

Extensive Head Options

The kit contains 13 head options for six miniatures:

  • 6 Helmeted Heads

  • 7 Bare Heads

Use the helmeted options for a unified battlefield appearance or mix in bare heads to give individual warriors more character.

Interchangeable Helmet Plumes

The kit includes 6 helmet plumes that can be interchanged across the helmeted heads.

This provides another way to individualize the warriors without losing the cohesive appearance of the unit.

Warhammer 40,000 & Horus Heresy

The Sentinel Guard Sodality can be used in two Warhammer game systems.

Warhammer 40,000

Field the unit alongside your Adeptus Custodes, providing durable elite infantry for your shield company.

Warhammer: The Horus Heresy

Deploy the Sentinel Guard with the Legio Custodes during the wars of the Age of Darkness.

This makes the kit particularly useful for collectors building Custodes armies across both settings.

Excellent Painting Project

The combination of auramite armor, large shields, weapons, and intricate sculpted details makes the Sentinel Guard an excellent painting project.

Experiment with:

  • Auramite gold

  • Metallic shading

  • Rich red details

  • Power weapon effects

  • Shield heraldry

  • Filigree

  • Helmet plumes

  • Battle damage

  • Custodian iconography

  • Scenic basing
