Warhammer 40K 11th Edition Armageddon: Everything in the Box
Warhammer 40K 11th Edition Armageddon: Everything in the Box
Games Workshop has officially lifted the lid on Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon — the launch box for 11th Edition Warhammer 40,000. This is the biggest starter set in recent memory, packed with 61 brand new push-fit miniatures, a new Core Rules booklet, a lore book, two card decks, datasheet cards, and a transfer sheet.
Here's everything confirmed to be inside the box, with a full breakdown of every miniature and what the new rules content means for players.
What's in the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon Box?
- 23 brand new push-fit Space Marines
- 38 brand new push-fit Orks
- Core Rules booklet (new handy-size format)
- Armageddon: Operation Imperator lore book
- Chapter Approved 2026–27 Mission Deck
- Dominatus Narrative Campaign Deck
- Armageddon datasheet cards
- Armageddon transfer sheet
That's 61 miniatures, two full card decks, a lore book, and the new Core Rules — all in one box. It's a genuinely comprehensive launch set.
The Lore: Operation Imperator
The box is set against the backdrop of Ghazghkull Thraka's return to Armageddon — the iconic Ork Warlord whose previous invasions defined some of the most celebrated lore in 40K history. The Space Marines have launched Operation Imperator to turn the tide before Imperial resistance collapses under the swelling Ork horde.
The Operation Imperator lore book covers the full background of the campaign — objectives, deployments, and the commanders leading the Imperial response. It's designed as a companion for players running Armageddon-based campaigns.
Space Marine Miniatures — All 23
Captain with Relic Shield
A fresh update on the classic Captain, now carrying a relic shield in a more dynamic, front-line pose. Armed with a master-crafted power sword, he's designed to go toe-to-toe with Orks in close combat. A strong character model and a natural centrepiece for a Space Marine force.
Librarian
The Librarian is depicted channelling psychic power along a hefty force staff — both a psychic focus and a lethal weapon. A classic Space Marine character type with a strong new sculpt.
Chaplain with Jump Pack
The Chaplain with Jump Pack combines speed and close combat lethality with the morale-boosting abilities of the Chaplain role. He's the natural leader for Vanguard Veterans and a deadly close combat warrior in his own right.
Ancient
The new Ancient carries the Armageddon banner with sculpted detail and an open space for freehand designs or Chapter transfers. Beyond the hobby appeal, the Ancient makes it easier for Intercessors to contest objectives — a useful battlefield role.
Intercessor Squad
The rank-and-file Space Marines now sport helmets and plating from multiple marks of power armour — a narrative touch reflecting the toll of endless war. The squad includes several characterful poses: reloading, using an auspex, and throwing a grenade. Intercessors are solid all-rounders with good shooting and decent melee, especially effective when joined by a Character.
Vanguard Veterans
Jump pack-equipped close combat specialists, Vanguard Veterans are among the finest assault troops in the Space Marine arsenal. They can be used as a precision strike against enemy commanders or to clear infantry from contested objectives.
Eradicator Squad with Heavy Bolters
Clad in Mk X Gravis armour, these Eradicators carry heavy bolters rather than the melta rifles of previous variants — optimised for horde-killing against the Ork masses. Maximum dakka, appropriately enough.
Land Speeder
The original Space Marine anti-grav attack craft returns with a sleek update that combines the best of the regular, Tornado, and Typhoon variants into a single hunter-killer platform. It burns infantry, melts vehicles, and clears the battlefield at speed.
Ork Miniatures — All 38
Warboss
The biggest and greenest Ork in the mob. The Warboss carries an enormous kustom choppa capable of bisecting a Space Marine in one swing, and his presence drives nearby Orks to fight harder. A natural centrepiece for any Ork force.
Bigboss
The Warboss's enforcer — keeping the rowdy Boyz in line with a two-handed big choppa. The Bigboss acts as a secondary leader, extending the Warboss's command across the battlefield.
Bannernob
An experienced Ork veteran carrying the Waaagh! banner — a near-religious icon for superstitious Orks. The Bannernob has clearly killed a pile of rivals to earn the honour of carrying it.
Painboy
Half sawbones, half mad scientist, the Painboy keeps Orks fighting by stapling arms and heads back on mid-battle. He kills as many as he saves, but his ability to return wounded Orks to the fight is prized regardless.
Weirdboy
The Ork psyker — channelling psychic power with complete disregard for personal safety. Emerald lightning and acidic vomit are the tools of the trade, with the occasional exploding head as a side effect. Either outcome is considered a win by most Orks.
Boyz
The core of any Ork horde. Boyz now carry both shoota and choppa simultaneously — effective at any range and terrifying in numbers. The most numerous unit in the box and the backbone of the Ork force.
Gretchin
The lowest of the low, pressed into battle to skulk and take potshots when it's safe. These new Gretchin sculpts are described as a fantastic callback to classic kits — strong collector appeal alongside their battlefield role.
Wartrakk
An update of a much-loved classic kit. The Wartrakk provides fire support with powerful rokkit launchers and the speed to get them exactly where they're needed.
Big Mek Dakkarig
A brand new addition to the Orks roster — a thunderous walking weapon platform carrying its Big Mek inventor into battle, blasting enemies with a rotating blitzcannon. The Dakkarig is the centrepiece model of the Ork side and a genuinely new unit for the faction.
The New Rules Content
Core Rules Booklet
The new Core Rules come in a handy-size format — easier to carry and reference at the table. Updated referencing numbers make it faster to find rules mid-game. This is the 11th Edition ruleset in its most portable form.
Chapter Approved 2026–27 Mission Deck
The updated mission deck contains mission cards, deployment cards, and tools for setting up games quickly. It includes twists and tweaks designed to keep the game balanced and competitive — the standard competitive play tool for 11th Edition.
Dominatus Narrative Campaign Deck
New for 11th Edition, the Dominatus deck adds a randomised campaign system to the core game. Players complete Agendas, capture vital locations, and level up units with powerful upgrades over the course of a campaign. This is a significant addition — a built-in narrative campaign system that doesn't require a separate book.
Datasheet Cards & Transfer Sheet
Datasheet cards for every unit in the box, plus a transfer sheet packed with Ork clan glyphs and Space Marine Chapter symbols. Everything you need to play and personalise your force is in the box.
What This Means for 11th Edition
The Armageddon box signals several clear directions for 11th Edition:
- Narrative play is a first-class feature — the Dominatus campaign deck built into the launch box shows Games Workshop is serious about narrative gaming from day one
- Orks are a major faction focus — 38 Ork models including a brand new unit (the Dakkarig) signals significant Ork support at launch
- Space Marines get meaningful updates — the Land Speeder redesign and new character sculpts refresh the range without abandoning what players love
- The Core Rules are more accessible — the handy-size format and improved referencing suggest Games Workshop is prioritising ease of play
Should You Buy the Armageddon Box?
Yes — if you play Space Marines, Orks, or are new to 40K.
The Armageddon box is the most complete launch set Games Workshop has produced in years. 61 push-fit miniatures, the new Core Rules, a full campaign deck, and a lore book in one purchase represents exceptional value for new players and veterans alike. The Big Mek Dakkarig alone — as a brand new unit — makes it essential for Ork collectors.
