Leviathan Welcomes in 10th Edition
This is the launch box for the new 10th edition of Warhammer 40,000, the biggest Warhammer release in history. This set will be available strictly while stocks last!
Leviathan features a collection of 72 brand-new miniatures that are unique to the franchise. The set comprises both Space Marines and Tyranids, representing the iconic blue-armored heroes and their despised Alien-like adversaries from the 40K universe. These miniatures are designed to be push-fit, eliminating the need for glue during assembly. While this may pose a challenge for dedicated hobbyists and painters striving for seamless joins before airbrushing, it offers a hassle-free experience for newcomers. Even players aged 12 and above can easily put these models together in no time, even without prior knowledge or experience. This beginner-friendly aspect is central to sets like Leviathan, although seasoned veterans can still find them appealing. In addition to a comprehensive 330-page rulebook with thorough annotations and indexing, the set also provides downloadable profiles (similar to character sheets in D&D but for squads of soldiers) for each unit.
The only oversight that seems to have been made with Leviathan is the absence of dice in the package. Therefore, it is advisable to acquire an ample supply of six-sided dice or scavenge them from other board games stored in the closet when the time comes.
However, apart from the dice, Leviathan offers immediate playability straight out of the box. This is made possible by the franchise's new "flagship" format known as Combat Patrol. It introduces a faster style of gameplay that utilizes smaller, preconstructed collections of miniatures already available on store shelves worldwide. This format is akin to Magic: The Gathering's Commander format. Games Workshop has officially stated that they will provide free downloads for "everything you need to play Combat Patrol" with an additional 22 factions when the 10th edition launches. They have reaffirmed this commitment by releasing the game's rules online for free on June 2nd. As a result, owners of Leviathan will have opponents to compete against right from day one.
