What Is Star Wars Unlimited Homeworlds?

Homeworlds explores the planets, alien civilizations, creatures, and cultures of Star Wars. Rather than staying within one era, the expansion draws from across the timeline and includes greater representation from The Acolyte and The Bad Batch.

The theme centres on cultures defending their worlds and the forces attempting to conquer them. The leader lineup already spans the Clone Wars, Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, Separatists, Ewoks, Wookiees, and other corners of the franchise.

New Mechanic: Fortify

Fortify allows upgrades to be attached to bases. Because upgrades were previously associated mainly with units, this opens a new area of the battlefield for deckbuilding and longer-term strategies.

The Grand Moff Tarkin Spotlight Deck is built around Fortify, giving players a ready-made introduction to the mechanic.

Beast and Weakness Tokens

Beast tokens

Beasts are 3/3 ground unit tokens. They fit the set’s focus on alien worlds and allow cards to create board presence without requiring individual Beast cards in the deck.

Weakness tokens

A Weakness token gives a unit -1/-1, functioning as the opposite of an Experience token. Weakness can alter combat math, reduce the effectiveness of large units, and bring targets within range of removal effects.

Homeworlds Spotlight Decks

Grand Moff Tarkin / The Death Star

Grand Moff Tarkin supports the Fortify mechanic and can transform into The Death Star at nine resources. His Spotlight Deck provides a fixed 50-card deck, leader, base, tokens, counters, and one Homeworlds booster pack.

Chewbacca – Relentless Rebel

Chewbacca leads a Heroism and Command strategy featuring aggressive Rebel and Ewok units. His Spotlight Deck also includes a fixed 50-card deck, leader, base, tokens, counters, and one booster pack.

More Multi-Aspect Cards

Homeworlds contains more multi-aspect cards than Ashes of the Empire but fewer than A Lawless Time. These combinations may encourage players to explore leaders and bases that otherwise receive less attention.

Why Homeworlds Is Worth Watching

Homeworlds expands parts of the game with relatively open design space. Fortify introduces base upgrades, Weakness provides a new way to modify units, and Beast tokens establish a reusable creature token for future cards.

The leader selection is equally broad, ranging from Darth Vader and Darth Sidious to Jar Jar Binks, Wicket, Omega, Osha, and Maz Kanata. Competitive players will be watching for cards that strengthen existing archetypes, while collectors may be drawn to the set’s varied cultures and character lineup.
