Obsidian Flames Fully Revealed

Pokemon has officially unveiled Obsidian Flames! This exciting new release, part of our Scarlet & Violet series, is set to launch on August 11th. The sources for Obsidian Flames include July's Japanese set Ruler of the Black Flame, eight Japanese ex Starter Decks from July, ex Special Sets from May, and around 30 cut cards from Paldea Evolved. Get ready to embark on an adventure with Obsidian Flames!

New Gameplay Possibilities

Guess what? Pokemon has some incredible surprises in store with the upcoming release of Obsidian Flames! Prepare to meet the first-ever Tera Pokemon ex of unusual types, including some fan favorites like Charizard ex (Darkness), Tyranitar ex (Lightning), Eiscue ex, and Vespiquen ex. These remarkable "type-shifted" Tera Pokemon ex will bring a whole new twist to the battle arena.

Here's the kicker: despite their unconventional types, these Tera Pokemon ex will still require the same Energy as their usual types. However, brace yourself for a twist in their vulnerabilities. For instance, picture this: Charizard ex, now a Darkness card, will maintain its fiery nature with Fire attack costs, but its Weakness will shift to Grass (because Darkness types are weak to Grass, representing the Bug type). It's a mind-bending strategy that will keep trainers on their toes!

But wait, there's more! Obsidian Flames will also showcase a thrilling lineup of Tera Pokemon ex, including the majestic Tera Dragonite ex (Dragon), the resourceful Tera Greedent ex (Colorless), the lightning-fast Revavroom ex, the mighty Melmetal ex, and the sinister Toedscruel ex. Just like in the beloved video games, many of these Tera Pokemon will retain their original types, adding an extra layer of excitement to your battles.

Features of The Flame

Obsidian Flames will feature:

-Over 190 cards

-15 Pokemon ex and six Tera Pokemon ex

-12 illustration rare Pokemon

-Six special illustration rare Pokemon and Supporter cards

-12 ultra rare full-art etched Pokemon ex and Supporter cards

-More than 15 Trainer cards

The Elite Trainer Boxes will feature a full art Charmander promo. The Pokemon Center version will come with an extra stamped version, as with the ETB for Scarlet & Violet.

Delta Species Throwbacks and Lore

Get ready for a nostalgic blast from the past in the Obsidian Flames set! Pokemon is paying homage to the iconic Delta Species cards from 2006 with the introduction of Charizard ex's Darkness type and Tyranitar ex's Lightning type. It's a delightful nod to those cherished cards that captured the hearts of trainers back in the day.

Prepare to dive into the captivating lore of the Pokemon TCG! In a tale that unfolded in the Holon region, brilliant scientists toiled away within the confines of a secretive research tower, their ultimate goal: to unlock the mysteries surrounding the elusive Mew. However, fate had other plans in store for them. One fateful day, an experiment within the tower went awry, unleashing a powerful energy wave that permeated the surrounding forest. As if touched by magic, the phenomenon gave birth to a remarkable phenomenon—Delta Species Pokemon. These extraordinary creatures emerged with types that defied their natural origins, captivating trainers with their unique abilities.

For avid fans, the years 2005 to 2006 hold a special place in their hearts. During this nostalgic era, the TCG introduced four thrilling Delta Species sets. It was a time of excitement and discovery, and for many, it marked a pivotal moment in their PokeBeach journey.

Now, brace yourself for a full-circle moment as the main series games take inspiration from this beloved concept. Terastalization emerges as the latest evolutionary step, capturing the imagination of trainers worldwide. And what better way to celebrate this convergence of worlds than through the release of Obsidian Flames, where the TCG itself completes the circle.
