Konflikt '47 in 2026: Has the New Edition Delivered?

Konflikt ‘47 in 2026: Has the New Edition Delivered?

When Warlord Games relaunched Konflikt ‘47 in September 2025, there was plenty of reason to be excited — and plenty of reason to be cautious. The concept had always been excellent: take the final years of the Second World War, tear open mysterious Rifts, and let every major power develop increasingly impossible weapons. The question was whether the new edition could turn that concept into a system with enough modern support to actually grow.

Almost a year later, we have a much better answer. Browse starter armies, infantry, walkers, Rift units, expansions, and new releases in our Konflikt ‘47 collection at Tistaminis.

Our Short Verdict

Yes — Konflikt ‘47 has delivered on the most important promise: the game finally feels like it has a future. The new edition retained the familiar Order Dice foundation while giving Rift technology a stronger mechanical identity. The miniature range is expanding steadily, plastic support is a clear priority, free living army lists allow new releases to enter play quickly, and the 2026 roadmap has delivered meaningful faction expansion. The biggest remaining weakness is simply maturity — some factions have received more new plastic attention than others, and local player communities will vary by region.

State of the Game: 2026 at a Glance

Area Grade Notes
Core Rules A– Familiar Order Dice with a stronger distinct identity
Order / Activation System A Still one of the best things about Warlord’s game family
Faction Identity A– Five increasingly different battlefield styles
Plastic Miniatures B+ Improving rapidly; transition is not complete
Publisher Support A Regular releases, two major 2026 expansions, ongoing FAQs
Army List Accessibility A+ Free living lists are a genuine competitive advantage
Setting & Lore A– Much stronger sense of an evolving alternate history
New Player Accessibility A– Starter armies and Bolt Action compatibility help considerably
Community Size B Growing but very region-dependent
Long-Term Potential A Roadmap and release velocity both positive
Overall A–

The Most Important Success: Konflikt ‘47 Has Its Own Identity

The biggest risk of the relaunch was obvious — would the game simply feel like Bolt Action with robots? The new edition has done more to separate the two systems mechanically, building clearly around Rift Dice, Rift enhancements, walkers, powered infantry, Special Platoons, and faction-specific weird-war technologies.

Konflikt ‘47 Needed to Be More Than a Bolt Action Expansion

The new edition increasingly feels like a separate game that happens to share excellent mechanics with Bolt Action, rather than a supplement bolted onto a historical rules system.

The Order Dice System Still Works

Keeping Order Dice was the right decision. The mechanic remains one of the strongest parts of Warlord’s game family — every unit contributes a die to the bag, players draw randomly to determine who activates next, and the result is uncertainty, tension, and constant tactical decisions with much less downtime than alternating-turn systems. Konflikt ‘47 then layers stranger Rift mechanics over that familiar foundation.

Rift Dice Are One of the Edition’s Best Additions

Instead of every science-fiction ability being another ordinary special rule, Rift-powered units can interact with dedicated Rift resources and enhancements. Experimental technology and powered abilities feel different because the rules supporting them are different. This is exactly the sort of mechanic the system needed.

The Game Rewards Combined Arms

The new edition has not made ordinary infantry irrelevant. Armies still need Order Dice, objective holders, infantry, and reliable activations. A giant walker may be spectacular — it does not automatically win the scenario.

Good Army Design Still Matters

The most visually exciting Rift unit is not necessarily the thing your army needs most. Konflikt ‘47 generally rewards mixing spectacular units with enough conventional troops to actually control the battlefield.

The Plastic Miniature Push Is Probably Warlord’s Biggest Win

The company has repeatedly emphasized plastic throughout 2026 — more weapon choices, assembly options, conversion opportunities, and ease of building larger forces. This matters because old Konflikt ‘47 was heavily dependent on resin and metal. The relaunch started with four brand-new plastic kits at launch in September 2025 and has continued building from that foundation.

2026 Release Highlights

Festung Europa

The first major 2026 milestone. It expanded both the setting and the miniature range while adding new units and Special Platoon structures — notably Totenrotte units, new specialist characters, new Rift-powered vehicles, and a dedicated Totenrotte Platoon. New releases were changing how armies could actually be constructed, not just adding another entry to the list.

Commonwealth Automated Infantry

New plastic British Commonwealth Automated Infantry and a dedicated Automated Platoon pushed the faction’s technology identity further: fearless machine infantry, dedicated control units, and a more robotic battlefield style. Britain should not simply get a British version of the Axis walker — its Rift technology leads somewhere different, and this release confirmed that direction.

Invasion Amerika

The second major 2026 expansion shifted attention toward forces and theatres that had previously received less focus. Japan is one of the largest beneficiaries, with the August 2026 army-list update adding Kimura Tadaaki, the Ghost Infiltration Platoon Commander, Shadow Warriors, the Special Type Onryō Assault Walker, and the Ghost Infiltration Platoon as a new Special Platoon.

Special Platoons Across the Game

The introduction of Special Platoons may be one of the most important developments of the year. Instead of every faction simply receiving another unit entry, Special Platoons let players organize armies around specific themes — Axis Totenrotte, US Firefly, Commonwealth Automated, Japanese Ghost Infiltration. A new platoon can give you an entirely different way to build and play the army you already own.

Has Warlord Delivered on the 2026 Roadmap?

So far, largely yes. By September we have seen Festung Europa, Invasion Amerika, new Axis and Commonwealth releases, new Special Platoons across multiple factions, major Japanese expansion, updated free army lists, multiple FAQs, and additional walkers in development. That is meaningful follow-through.

The Living Army Lists Are One of the Best Decisions Warlord Made

Free, downloadable, regularly updated army lists mean new releases can enter play immediately rather than waiting for a new printed book. Updates through 2026 have included new units, new Special Platoons, points adjustments, corrections, and compatibility with new Bolt Action material — with list updates in December 2025, March, June, and August 2026.

Expect Ongoing Adjustments

If you want a rules environment that remains completely unchanged for several years, the current development model may not appeal to you. For a growing game, however, active corrections are far preferable to obvious issues left untouched until the next printed book.

The Five Factions in 2026

Faction Broad 2026 Identity
United States Mobile firepower, powered troops, aggressive technology
Axis Heavy technology, dark experimentation, reanimated forces
British Commonwealth Automated infantry, advanced support systems, combined arms
Soviet Union Mass, resilience, heavy battlefield threats, unusual Rift experiments
Empire of Japan Ambushes, Ghost technology, infiltration, Rift-powered surprises

That differentiation is critical. If every faction simply received infantry, heavy infantry, small walker, and big walker, the setting would get boring quickly. The current design direction gives each power its own response to Rift technology — and each of those responses is becoming more mechanically distinct with each expansion cycle.

What Still Needs Improvement?

1. More Plastic Coverage

The range is moving in the right direction, but there are still older resin and metal kits throughout the line. More core units should move into modern plastic over time — the Soviet range in particular could use expanded attention.

2. More Even Faction Support

Current expansion cycles naturally put certain armies in the spotlight. Over several years, every faction needs comparable depth. This is not a major problem yet, but it will need to be managed.

3. Local Communities Need Time

This is the biggest practical issue for many players. Konflikt ‘47 is not yet a game where you can safely assume every local club has multiple opponents. Check your local store and Bolt Action group — converting existing historical players may be considerably easier than building a community from nothing.

4. Keep Rules Information Easy to Find

Living lists are excellent. As they expand, Warlord needs to keep current versions obvious, change logs clear, and army building straightforward. So far the system is working; it simply becomes more important as the game grows.

Bolt Action Compatibility Remains a Major Advantage

The major Konflikt ‘47 army lists include rules for incorporating appropriate Bolt Action units, meaning existing historical players can potentially reuse infantry, artillery, support teams, and vehicles before adding Rift-specific models. Bolt Action players already understand Order Dice, pinning, infantry movement, and terrain — the learning curve is much smaller than beginning an entirely unrelated miniature system. If you simply want historical WWII battles, Bolt Action remains the obvious choice. If you want to ask “What if this army also had a giant walker?” Konflikt ‘47 becomes much more interesting.

Who Should Start Konflikt ‘47 in 2026?

Player Type Recommendation
Existing Bolt Action Player Excellent — probably the easiest recommendation
Alternate-History Fan Excellent
Walker / Mech Fan Excellent
Narrative / Campaign Wargamer Excellent
Historical Gamer Wanting Something Stranger Excellent
Hobbyist Who Loves Conversions Excellent
Sci-Fi Player Who Dislikes Historical Aesthetics Mixed — WWII remains the visual foundation
Player Requiring a Large Local Tournament Scene Check Locally First

Should You Start Now or Wait Until 2027?

We do not see much reason to wait. A year ago the concern was “Is Warlord actually going to support this?” By September 2026 that concern is substantially weaker: nearly a full year of post-launch support, multiple army-list updates, two major expansion cycles, new plastics, new Special Platoons, and more walkers visibly in development.

Waiting Gives You More Models. Starting Now Gives You a Year of Games.

Unless you are specifically waiting for one unreleased unit, the current range is already deep enough to build and play substantial armies across all five factions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Konflikt ‘47 still supported in 2026?

Yes. Warlord Games has continued releasing new plastic kits, expansions, units, Special Platoons, free army-list updates, and FAQ changes throughout 2026.

When did the new edition release?

The relaunched edition of Konflikt ‘47 released in September 2025 with a new rulebook and four new plastic kits.

Is Konflikt ‘47 just Bolt Action with science-fiction units?

No. The two games share Order Dice and historical unit compatibility, but Konflikt ‘47 has dedicated Rift Dice, Rift enhancements, walkers, powered troops, automated units, supernatural forces, Special Platoons, and more extreme faction mechanics.

Can I use Bolt Action miniatures in Konflikt ‘47?

Yes. The free Konflikt ‘47 army lists provide rules for incorporating appropriate Bolt Action units into the major national forces.

What factions are available?

The main factions are the United States, Axis, British Commonwealth, Soviet Union, and Empire of Japan, each with increasingly distinct Rift technology and army rules.

What are Special Platoons?

Special Platoons are themed force-organization options built around specific parts of a faction — such as Axis Totenrotte, Commonwealth Automated Infantry, or Japanese Ghost forces — allowing players to build more specialized armies with dedicated rules.

Are Konflikt ‘47 army lists free?

Yes. Warlord provides free living army-list PDFs and updates them as new models and rules are released. FAQ and errata documents are maintained alongside them.

What expansions released in 2026?

Major 2026 releases include Festung Europa and Invasion Amerika, both expanding the setting while introducing additional units and rules across multiple factions.

Is Konflikt ‘47 worth starting in 2026?

We think so. The major concern at relaunch was whether Warlord would provide sustained support. Nearly a year of new plastics, expansions, free list updates, FAQs, and faction development has made the game much easier to recommend.

Final Verdict: Has Konflikt ‘47 Delivered?

Yes. The important questions have been answered. Did Warlord release more plastics after launch? Yes. Did the promised 2026 expansions actually arrive? Yes. Are army lists being maintained? Yes. Are new factions and play styles being developed? Yes. Does the system feel more distinct from Bolt Action? Yes.

The Axis resurrect the dead. The Commonwealth builds machines. Japan disappears into the shadows. The Americans weaponize mobility. The Soviets pursue their own brutal solutions. That is where Konflikt ‘47 works — and with additional plastic walkers already appearing in Warlord’s development pipeline, year two may be even more important than year one.

If you were waiting for proof that the relaunch was more than a new rulebook and a burst of launch products, we think you have it.
