BLOOD ANGELS DEATH COMPANY
Origins of the Death Company:
The Death Company originated during the Horus Heresy, a galaxy-spanning civil war that nearly destroyed the Imperium of Man. Sanguinius, the Primarch of the Blood Angels and their spiritual leader, died in combat against the traitor Primarch Horus. His death deeply affected the Blood Angels, and it is believed that his psychic scream of anguish during his death was imprinted upon their gene-seed, leading to the curse of the Black Rage.
The Curse of the Black Rage:
The Black Rage is a hereditary flaw that causes Blood Angels Space Marines to experience intense and uncontrollable rage, believing themselves to be Sanguinius and reliving his final moments. When a Blood Angel falls to the Black Rage, they are lost to madness and become a threat to their own allies.
Formation of the Death Company:
To channel the destructive energies of those affected by the Black Rage, the Blood Angels created the Death Company. When a Blood Angel succumbs to the Black Rage, they are placed in the Death Company. They are equipped with black power armor adorned with symbols of death and despair, and they are given jump packs to allow them to close in on the enemy quickly.
Relentless Assault:
Members of the Death Company are unleashed upon the battlefield in a frenzied and suicidal assault. They charge into the heart of the enemy, seeking to inflict as much damage as possible before their inevitable death. Their sheer ferocity and disregard for their own survival make them formidable in close combat.
Temporary Sanity:
In rare cases, some members of the Death Company regain their sanity after the battle is over. These survivors are known as "Redeemed" and may be returned to their chapter, but they often face a shortened life due to the lingering effects of the Black Rage.
Spiritual Guidance:
Chaplains of the Blood Angels play a crucial role in guiding the Death Company. They lead them in battle and provide spiritual support to ease their suffering. Chaplains are also responsible for selecting which afflicted Blood Angels are inducted into the Death Company.
The lore of the Blood Angels Death Company is a poignant representation of the internal struggles and the high cost of the Blood Angels' genetic inheritance. It underscores the tragic nature of their existence as they fight for the Imperium while battling the darkness within themselves.
This 94-piece kit contains five multi-part plastic Blood Angels Death Company miniatures. It includes 5 backpacks, 5 jump packs, 20 shoulder pads and 8 heads. Also included are a range of bolters, bolt pistols and chainswords, a host of other weapon options and 5 x 32mm round bases.
