Ravensburger, in partnership with The Walt Disney Company, has just launched a captivating collectible card game called Lorcana. Marking Ravensburger's inaugural venture into the trading card game realm, this game showcases an array of characters spanning Disney's illustrious cinematic history. Enthusiasts are eager to witness how Lorcana will stack up against established collectible card game giants such as Magic: The Gathering and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. According to Ravensburger North America CEO Filip Francke, Lorcana stands as their "most significant investment into any project and initiative to date".

A special ensemble of seven promotional cards was distributed to attendees at the 2022 D23 Expo. The inaugural card set, titled "The First Chapter", made its debut in board game stores on August 18, 2023, followed by availability at major retailers on September 1, 2023.

In summary: utilizing decks containing sixty cards, players generate "ink" to summon cards that depict characters, items, and song lyrics from Disney content. The gameplay progresses through a series of steps, including ink generation, card playing, and executing actions stipulated by the cards. Throughout the course of the game, as players engage with one another's cards, their objective is to accumulate a total of twenty points, referred to as "lore," before their adversary.

The objective diverges from the conventional approach of depleting an opponent's life points; instead, participants race to accumulate significant portions of "lore" before their rival does. Disney Lorcana breathes new life into well-known characters from Disney's vast animated repertoire, blending cherished figures with a fresh fantasy aesthetic. These characters don imaginative new attires, explore uncharted realms, and wield both swords and sorcery. Anticipate encounters with timeless personalities like Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, as well as contemporary favorites like Lilo and Stitch, Elsa and Anna, and Moana.

With the opportunity to amalgamate these characters, mystical items, abilities, and even iconic Disney song references within a single deck to outsmart your adversary, grasping the fundamental rules of Disney Lorcana becomes indispensable for refining your deck-building skills and guiding you to triumph. This guide will introduce you to the game's mechanics and assist you in constructing your maiden deck, setting you on the path to action. In contrast to the traditional goal of reducing an opponent's health to zero, Disney Lorcana shifts focus, prompting both players to race towards acquiring 20 "lore" points by embarking on quests with cards and utilizing specific abilities.

While the standard format caters to one-on-one duels, Disney Lorcana is adaptable and can also accommodate multiple players simultaneously.

BOOSTER PACKS: Booster packs for "The First Chapter" will have 12 cards each, and guaranteed six common cards, three uncommon cards, one foil and two cards that can be either rare, super rare or legendary rare.

ILLUMINEER'S TROVE: This claims to be the "ultimate treasure for both collectors and players". It is a full-art storage box, with two deck boxes, eight boosters, a player's guide, and 15 game tokens. 

STARTER DECKS: These decks include a 12-card booster pack, and two foils for the standard 60-card deck. Tokens and a rule book are also included.

GIFT SET: The Gift Set, one of the bigger bundles, will bring two foils for the featured characters in their cover, and their standard versions. The first bundle reported features Mulan and Hades, with their foil versions being called Mulan - Imperial Soldier and Hades - King of Olympus.

There will be 34 game tokens and four booster packs in this particular bundle, and deckbuilding will be up to you.
