SPQR: Dacia & Sarmatia - Dacian Tribesmen with Javelins
Dacian tribesmen were poorer or less skilful than the falxmen and nobles, but provided support that was more than adequate in the form of javelins, sling stones and arrows. In sufficient numbers, they were capable of facing even veteran soldiers and many a legionary met his end at their hands.
Arm your tribesmen with javelins for an especially ‘lethal’ ranged attack, but don’t go unsupported – javelins have a relatively short range and the tribesmen will be a ripe target for revenge. Make sure to take advantage of their ‘hit and run’ special rule to counteract the inevitable counter-charge.
