1. What is the difference between hobby paint and acrylic paint?
Hobby paint has been specifically formulated to work optimally on plastic models, as well as to be mixed with other colours. Using generic acrylic paints is not recommended as they can be much thicker in substance, which will result in the loss of details on your models. It is always recommended to use the proper hobby supplies in order to not ruin your expensive models. Why spend a lot on the plastic model but skip out on quality paints
2. Does Hobby paint come in acrylic, oil or watercolours?
Hobby paint generally comes in acrylic form, although there are some oil versions (Check out Abteilung).
3. Where can I buy hobby paint?
Tistaminis offers a wide variety of acrylic paints from various ranges such as: Army Paint, Vallejo, Games Workshop, Formula P3, Abteilung, Green Stuff World, AK Interactive, and Coat'D Arms. Whatever your preference may be, Tistaminis offers a wide selection of choices and options to choose from.
4. What hobby paints does Tistaminis recommend?
We personally like to lean towards recommending Vallejo paints as our go-to acrylic paints.
There are 3 main reasons for this:- Wide selection and variety of colours
- Affordable, at under $5.00 a pot
- Come in dropper bottles for ease of use and preserving the paint.
5. Why would I use Hobby paint instead of professional paint?
Hobby paints are specifically designed for hobby models. Professional paint is not designed to go on to hobby miniatures which consist of fine details. Using professional paint may result in the loss of detail.
6. Can I use Hobby Paint by its self as a basing material?
Hobby paint can be used to paint your bases, but it is normally recommended that you use texture-based products such as those from Vallejo or AK Interactive for this purpose. Reason being these offer realistic 3d textures to your bases as opposed to just a colour.
