Hail Caesar Saxon Huscarls B

The infantry of the Saxon force during the 1066 conquest was primarily composed of the fyrd and the housecarls. The fyrd was a militia made up of free men called up from the local population, armed with spears, axes, and sometimes bows, often equipped with minimal armor such as leather or simple chainmail. They fought on foot and were expected to serve for short periods.

The housecarls, on the other hand, were professional soldiers who formed the core of the Saxon army. They were heavily armored with chainmail and helmets, wielding formidable weapons such as the two-handed Danish axe and swords. The housecarls were highly trained and disciplined, providing a strong and reliable fighting force.

Together, these infantry units used a shield wall formation as their primary battle tactic, creating a defensive barrier that was difficult for enemies to penetrate. This tactic was crucial during the Battle of Hastings, where the Saxon infantry initially held their ground against Norman attacks before eventually being outflanked and defeated.

They stand at any beck and call of their king, no matter the risk, even if it means their own lives are sacrificed in the process.

This blister pack contains 8 Saxon Huscarls.
