Origins: Kroot are a species of avian-like xenos native to the jungle-covered world of Pech in the Eastern Fringes of the galaxy. They have a primitive tribal society and are known for their carnivorous nature and their ability to adapt to different environments by consuming the flesh of other species.

Mercenary Warriors: Kroot Carnivores are often employed as mercenaries by the Tau Empire, fighting alongside Tau Fire Warriors and other Tau units in battle. In exchange for their services, the Kroot are granted access to advanced Tau technology and the opportunity to feed on the fallen foes, which accelerates their evolution.

Combat Abilities: Kroot Carnivores are formidable close combat fighters, armed with razor-sharp claws and teeth that can tear through armor and flesh with ease. They are agile and stealthy hunters, capable of ambushing enemy units and launching devastating close-quarters assaults.

Adaptive Biology: One of the most notable traits of the Kroot is their ability to adapt and evolve by consuming the genetic material of other species. When a Kroot consumes the flesh of a fallen foe, it can inherit some of the traits of that species, gaining new abilities and characteristics that enhance its combat prowess.

Leadership: Kroot Carnivore squads are typically led by a Kroot Shaper, a veteran warrior who serves as both a leader and a spiritual guide for the squad. The Kroot Shaper is responsible for directing the actions of the squad in battle and ensuring that they fulfill their contractual obligations to their Tau employers.

Tactical Role: Kroot Carnivores fulfill a variety of roles on the battlefield, depending on the needs of their Tau employers. They can be deployed as frontline assault troops to engage enemy infantry in close combat, as skirmishers to harass enemy flanks and disrupt their formations, or as scouts to reconnoiter enemy positions and gather intelligence.

Integration with Tau Forces: Kroot Carnivores often fight alongside Tau Fire Warriors and other Tau units, forming a cohesive fighting force that combines the strengths of both species. They are particularly effective when used in conjunction with Tau Markerlights, which can improve their accuracy and effectiveness in combat.
