MIDDLE-EARTH SBG: AZOG™ (FOOT & MOUNTED)

Azog the Defiler is a significant character in J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, particularly in Peter Jackson's film adaptations of "The Hobbit." In Tolkien's writings, Azog is an Orc chieftain who lived in the Misty Mountains during the Third Age. He is infamous for his role in the Battle of Azanulbizar, where he slew Thror, King under the Mountain and grandfather of Thorin Oakenshield, during the Dwarves' attempted recapture of Moria.

In Jackson's films, Azog's character is expanded upon, portraying him as a formidable antagonist and the chief antagonist of the film trilogy. He is depicted as a massive and powerful Orc, distinguished by his missing left forearm, which was severed by Thorin's ancestor, Thrór, during their encounter in Moria. Azog is portrayed as a ruthless leader who commands an army of Orcs and other creatures, serving the dark forces of Sauron.

In the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game by Games Workshop, Azog is often represented as a powerful hero or commander, leading his own faction of Gundabad Orcs and other evil creatures. He is depicted as a fearsome warrior, capable of inspiring his troops and leading them to victory on the battlefield. Azog's presence strikes fear into the hearts of his enemies, and his skill in combat makes him a formidable adversary to face in battle.
