A death tyrant is a powerful undead creature in various role-playing games, notably Dungeons & Dragons. It's essentially an undead beholder, a fearsome and iconic monster in D&D lore.
In Dungeons & Dragons, a beholder is a large, floating creature with a massive, central eye and several smaller eye stalks protruding from its body, each capable of casting different spells or magical effects. When a beholder dies with an intense hatred for all life, its spirit might return as a death tyrant.
A death tyrant retains the basic form of a beholder but is more powerful, usually possessing additional abilities and a darker, more malevolent demeanor. It's a formidable opponent for adventurers, often serving as a boss-level enemy in high-level campaigns.
